Abstract

In this letter, we propose a regularized iterative reweighted minimization approach (RIRMA) to accurately estimate properties (angle, range, and Doppler) of targets for multiple-input multiple-output (MIMO) radar. In RIRMA, a nonlinear model is reformulated as a linear model and a sequence of weighed lq(0<q≤1) minimization optimization problems is solved. In the optimization procedure, a closed-form solution of the optimization problem is obtained for next iteration. Numerical comparisons with existing algorithms show that RIRMA produces accurate angle–range target estimates, and even in the range–Doppler dimension, RIRMA can also achieve excellent Doppler estimate. Furthermore, numerical simulations show that the reduction of the q values decreases the average iteration numbers without loss of angular resolution and Doppler resolution.
