Abstract

This paper presents the Smooth Pseudo Wigner-Ville Distribution (SPWVD) technique for moving target detection. This technique has been applied on seismic signal of SITEX02 data set to validate and analyze its performance. Time-frequency coefficients are acquired from these seismic signals using SPWVD. Coefficients of probability density function (PDF) are obtained from the time-frequency coefficients. The PDF coefficients are used to obtain the Renyi entropy which provides the information regarding the event. Threshold based on constant false alarm rate (CFAR) is applied on the Renyi entropy to detect the presence of target. Comparative analysis of this technique with Pseudo Wigner-Ville distribution (PWVD) has also been done. The results indicate that moving target detection performed using SPWVD provides higher true positive rate in comparison to detection performed using PWVD.
