Abstract

W e report two cases of coarctation of the descending aorta in patients who underwent Doppler wave analysis for suspected renal artery stenosis. Both patients had bilateral tardus-parvus patterns on imaging of their renal arteries and an abnormal waveform in the aorta. From these findings we suspected proximal aortic obstruction. The spectral Doppler waveform in the aorta distal to the coarctation varied with the type of proximal stenosis but was always abnormal.
