Significance He built a career in the military and subsequently in the civil service under governments across the political spectrum. Ultimately, however, Tarcisio became a household name during the far-right government of former President Jair Bolsonaro (2019-22), in which he served as infrastructure minister. Impacts Tarcisio mixes a technocratic profile with an appeal to far-right voters. He has the ability to cultivate good relations across the political spectrum. Despite his advantages, a presidential run in 2026 would likely prove an uphill battle for him.
