Together with ten hydrolyzable tannins and related compounds three novel dimeric ellagitannins, excoecarianin, and excoecarinins A and B, possessing a dehydrohexahydroxydiphenoyl or an elaeocarpusinoyl group, have been isolated from the leaves of Excoecaria kawakamii HAYATA (Euphorbiaceae).
