Abstract

Este breve ensayo quiere arrojar alguna luz sobre los posibles ecos homéricos de la cláusula final del soneto XVI de Garcilaso de la Vega, “Para la sepultura de don Hernando de Guzmán”. Analizando distintos pasajes de la Ilíada y de la Odisea, sus traducciones del s. XV y algunos epitafios poéticos compuestos en torno a Janus Láscaris, se muestra que el soneto de Garcilaso recupera una fórmula poética de larga tradición, aprovechándola para lograr un efecto final lleno de resonancias antiguas.
