Abstract

The interest in literature has been revived in Italy right after the Second World War. It was felt that the public's memoirs of war should be told in all dimensions of the distress experienced between the world war and the national war. Thus, in the second half of the nineteenth century, the realism (Realismo and Verismo) movement, which had developed under two different names, was renewed; realistic narration came to the forefront, and shortly it began to produce important works in this area. This new literary thrust was later called the New Realism Movement.
