Abstract

Hypertension is a manifestation of cardiovascular hemodynamic disorders whose causesare multifactorial. The prevalence of hypertension in Indonesia alone the increase is8.3%. Hypertension itself is still the highest cause of death and can cause seriouscomplications such as stroke, ischemic heart disease, kidney failure, retinopathy and soon. There are many guidelines that explain how management of therapy to reduce highblood pressure. There are two ways to manage hypertension sufferers, namelypharmacological therapy and non-pharmacological therapy by modifying lifestyles suchas regular exercise, reduce alcohol consumption, stop smoking, and lose weight, reducesalt consumption by adapting the DASH (Dietary Approaches to Stop Hypertension) diet.This community service aims to provide education about the DASH diet in hypertensive at Dusun Gegutu Dayan Aiq Desa Kekeri Kecamatan Gunungsari Lombok Barat. Thisactivity was attended by 30 respondents using LCD Projector and leaflets. The methodused is by lectures, discussions and demonstration of the correct use of kitchen spicesand gives an overview of examples of fruits and vegetables rich in fiber, and conductpretests and posttests. Pretest results level of knowledge the most knowledge is lessthan 18 people (60%) while after being given education in the form of health counseling,there was an increase in participants' knowledge to a sufficient level of knowledge asmany as 15 people (50%). It is hoped that this community service activity can be usefulfor hypertensive at Dusun Gegutu Dayan Aiq Desa Kekeri Kecamatan GunungsariLombok Barat.
