Study Objective To present common pitfalls that can occur when using monopolar devices and recommendations for avoiding inadvertent patient injury and maximizing efficiency. These pitfalls include: Incorrect placement of dispersive electrode Inappropriate power settings and current waveforms Current leakage Inadvertent contact Direct coupling Stray current Eschar accumulation Narrow return circuit Decreased current density Insufficient tension Wet field Design Video Demonstration.
