Abstract

In this study, we investigated the rapid solidification of Al0.75NbZr1.5Ti3V lightweight high-entropy alloy by lowering the temperature of the cast copper mold. Mechanical characterization results indicate that the alloy achieved a total elongation (TE) of 18.2% and a yield strength (YS) of 1218.9 MPa. This represents a synergistic improvement of 100.0% in TE and 9.0% in YS compared to the as-melted sample. Microstructural analysis reveals that rapid solidification increased the B2 phase content in the alloy and altered its morphology, leading to a higher density of planar slip, thus achieving a synergistic enhancement of strength and plasticity in the alloy.
