Event Abstract Back to Event Tailoring of mesenchymal stem cell behavior on plasma-nodified polytetrafluoroethylene Huaiyu Wang1 1 Chinese Academy of Sciences, Shenzhen Institutes of Advanced Technology, China Fibrous encapsulation is a critical problem of conventional implant materials as it can lead to implants micromotion and even failure. An ideal orthopaedic material for bone repair should not only support the target cells proliferation but also can stimulate stem cells differentiation into osteogenic lineage. Here, we demonstrate an original and effective method that can process different properties on PTFE substrates by using single or multiple gas PIII. The rods appearance achieved by O2 PIII associated with the NH3 PIII modified surface chemistry is desirable in supporting MSCs proliferation and their osteogenic differentiation in the absence of osteogenic supplements. The osteogenic potential of these features is even higher than that of osteogenic inducing media. In addition, with this ameliorated PIII, large-scale and region-functional features can be easily processed on the same PTFE substrate which has implications for the developments of implant materials.
