Abstract

TiO2 nanoarrays (TNAs) prepared via anodic oxidation of Ti substrates were used as the support to manufacture Pd–MnO2/TNAs composite by using successive electrodepositions. It greatly enhanced the electron transport between the Pd and MnO2/TNAs composite support. In acidic media, the overpotentials of the electrodes were only 63 and 92 mV under 10 and 20 mA cm−2, respectively. After stable testing, the activity did not decline. It demonstrates the utilization of metal oxides as the intermediate to improve the electron transport behavior of TNAs. New potential pathways may be derived to assemble highly efficient hydrogen evolution reaction (HER) composite electrodes.
