Abstract

Vehicular Ad-Hoc Network (VANET) is introduced as a promising solution for many road traffic issues. However, VANET technology is still at the development stage, facing research challenges. A major challenge faced by VANET development is the high dynamic nature of its nodes “Vehicles”. The adhered feature of VANET introduces a rabid change in the network topology and wide range of network scenarios for which a node can possibly attached to. This paper proposes an optimization mechanism to tackle the topology change problem in VANET. The proposed method is based-on the Taguchi optimization method. Moreover, Ad-Hoc on Demand Distance Vector (AODV) routing protocol is optimized for different VANET scenarios. Further, simulation experiments are curried out to prove the work in the paper. The obtained results show that, Optimized AODV with Taguchi method improves the performances of VANET in-terms of throughput, delay and packet delivery ratio.
