Abstract

Researchers from the University of California at Irvine (CA, USA) have been awarded a $2 million grant from the National Institutes of Child Health and Development (NICHD) for a five-year study examining the association between levels of the stress-related peptide corticotropin-releasing hormone (CRH) in the maternal blood during pregnancy and premature birth. Their goal is to find ways of predicting and possibly even preventing preterm labour.
