Abstract

A tabletop dish recommendation system for multiple users dining together, called Group FDT (Future Din- ing Table), is presented. The system continually assesses the dining status of users, and recommends dishes in a timely manner. The recommendation timing and displayed position of recommended dishes are based on research on real din- ing, extant literature, and experimental results. Thus, the system is expected to be useful in addressing staff shortages in the food service industry such as Japanese pubs which often receive additional dish orders.
