Abstract

In the pentagonal antiprismatic columnar structure of Ta 3 S 2 , sulfur can be partially replaced by selenium. Selenium accumulates preferentially at one of two independent sites, which leads to unusually short Ch-Ch [2.973 (3) A] contacts, where Ch denotes a chalcogen site.
