Abstract

This research was to study the beliefs, sexual relationship, value, sexual acts and sexual health of adolescents which related to gender. The study was a quality research. Adolescents (60 persons, age between 15-19 years) were used for in-depth interview and group discussion. Male and female adolescents had differing idea in beginning sex intercourse. Males always started sex relation whereas female permitted with love and confidence. Females gave their virgin but sex relationship of male was only wish and base on desire. Males adolescents hold on Thai sex form (male have many lovers). Moreover, both adolescents prefer to have sex intercourse before getting married. Concerning knowledge of risk behaviour, adolescents were absented information about risks to be infected with AIDs and STDs therefore most of them didn’t use condom when they had sex with their sexual partner. Sexuality of adolescents was influenced by their family, friend acceptation and media. Because female absent power of bargaining sex relation and male youth did not responsibility in Thai social gender, female would be infected STDs and unwanted pregnancy. Beside, adolescents didn’t receive health service that they desire. According to the differing sexual behaviour of males and females adolescents, Thai adults had the same behaviour with adolescents in the future. Thai male could have the most sex partners (lover, wife or prostitute) and like sex activities which were the valuable of them. This results reflected the power relationship between female and male in sex intercourse of adolescents.
