T05-O-07 Surgery of Peyronie's disease and penile congenital curvature: experience and outcome in a single institution in 54 patients

Abstract

Introduction Peyronie's disease and penile congenital curvature are relatively under-estimated with a strong psychological impact. The goal of this study is to look at complications of the surgical approach and evaluate the results on sexual intercourses. Materials and methods patients were retrospectively studied after surgery on notes and by phone using a questionnaire to evaluate the follow-up and results (erection, global sexual satisfaction). Results 54 patients beneficiated of surgery between 2003 and 2007; 37 for Peyronie's disease with 31 YACCHIA procedures and 6 albugineal grafts and 17 for penile congenital curvature with also YACCHIA procedures. Immediate complication's rate is 6.8% and late complication's rate is 10%. In 95% of cases, sexual intercourses became possible after 1 or 2 surgical procedures and without pain compared to 11% before surgery, and 84% became sexually satisfyed. We also reported a slight persistent penile angulation less than 10% in 31 patients (70%). Global recurrence rate is 29.5% (7,6% in our institution). Conclusion Surgical treatment of penile curvatures is an appropriate option to enhance erections, sexual satisfaction and global quality of life despite an unrare rate of complications and recurrences.
