Abstract

In this paper, the T‐matrix approach is applied to the scattering of plane acoustic waves incident upon finite elastic cylindrical shells in water. The form function will be examined for various angles of incidence and thickness ratios. Shells with l/a ratio from 2 to 5 will be investigated for ka ⩽ 10, where k is the wavenumber of the incident sound wave, a is the radius of the cylinder, and l is the length of the cylinder.
