Abstract

RATIONALE: Impaired T cell responses in primary immunodeficiencies or in immunosuppressed patients frequently result in life-threatening opportunistic infections. Current methods to assess T cell immunity include 3H thymidine incorporation or measurement of ATP content in CD4 cells after mitogen stimulation; however, these methods variously suffer from a lack of specificity, a requirement for isotope use, and extended cell culture times.
