Abstract

We here describe systems of Korean numerals in order to introduce them in our Korean electronic lexical system DECO. Given that existing editorial dictionaries are not reliable in this respect, it is necessary to build up a lexicon that contains all numerals, or rather information about productive mechanisms of formation of numerals. The two systems of numerals, Sino-Korean system and Korean proper system, obey some constraints when they appear in noun phrases, especially in relation to the head noun (N) and nouns of measure (Nmes), appropriate to the head noun. Construction of local grammars of noun phrases containing numerals will be indispensable to the implementation of parsing systems. They will be represented by finite state automata in our electronic lexicon.
