Abstract

Granular Di-Syston® ( O,O -diethyl S -[2-ethylthio)ethyl] phorodithioate) and phorate were applied over garden lily bulbs in the planting furrow at the rates of 2 and 4 lb. actual Di-Syston and 8 and 12 lb. actual phorate per acre. All treatments gave complete control of the potato aphid, Macrosiphum euplwrbiae (Thomas), and the aphid Acyrthosiphon solani (Kaltenbach) during the period of infestation. Average bulb weight of 6 varieties treated with 2 lb. of Di-Syston was 87% that of the untreated checks compared to 72% for 8 lb. of phorate.
