Abstract

The evolution of the different cloth coverings of Starr-Edwards prostheses is reviewed along with previously reported cases of wear of the cloth coverings. The first case of wear in the Model 2320 valve, which is covered with a combination of polypropylene over Teflon, is reported. Questions related to the problem are discussed.
