Abstract

Nadleria gamma sp. nov. is described from both sexes and compared to previously described species. A key to species and notes on N. alpha Badonnel and Garcia Aldrete are presented. The view that Nadleria is a sister taxon to Lachesilla is confirmed with male characters. Male external genitalic structures include a Y-shaped phallosomal apodeme, claspers on the hypandrium with the distal portion of each consisting of a simple, posteriorly directed process, a hook-shaped prong on the median margin of each paraproct, and an asymmetrical median process of the epiproct. All of these structures are also seen in Lachesilla species of the pedicularia group. On that account, these structures are interpreted as plesiomorphous for Lachesilla . Assuming monophyly for Lachesilla , departures in that genus from the hypothetical plesiomorphous male genitalic states may be viewed as apomorphies.
