Abstract

A simple current algebra model is shown to account for a wide range of low-energy πN experimental data including twenty-eight subthreshold expansion coefficients, six scattering lengths, and the scattering phase shifts below T π = 300 MeV. A sigma term of σ NN = 62 ± 10 MeV is obtained.
