Abstract

Of 55,000 UK annual new breast cancers, approximately 15,000 undergo mastectomy; 1% complication will affect 150 women. Complications include mastectomy skin flap necrosis, wound infections, complicated seromas, haematomas, and loss of reconstruction. In immediate breast reconstruction (IBR), most native skin with/without nipple-areola with subcutaneous fat (with subdermal vascular plexus) needs preservation. 1 Agrawal A. et al.
