Abstract

In response to an article entitled “Confluence – Waterborne Giardiasis: Where and Why,” (Journal AWWA, January 1986), the author of this letter to the editor comments that water is unfairly blamed for most Giardiasis outbreaks. He states that 80‐90 percent of the isolated outbreaks of giardiasis are not related to water at all, and, in fact, are caused by poor hygienic conditions in restaurants, homes, and daycare centers. At the same time, the author stresses continued efforts to furnish the safest possible water.
