Abstract
AbstractWe illustrate the use of Algol 68 as a systems implementation language by reference to practical uses of the language. We argue that the code patch facility as implemented in Algol 68‐R is a good way of interfacing systems programs to their machine‐dependent environment, and does not violate the spirit of high‐level language programming.
