Abstract

In this paper, calculation of overall system parameters, identification through laboratory setup and its validation has been done. Moreover, comparative performance of sensor and sensorless control for Permanent Magnet Synchronous Generator (PMSG) with DC bus is presented. The system model contains a PMSG model, sensorless Extended Kalman Filter (EKF), three phase Voltage Source Converter (VSC) with fix DC bus system. Overall system modeling of PMSG and calculation from the scratch of the parameters such as, generator phase resistance (Rs), d-q axis inductance (Ld-Lq), rotor flux linkage (λr) etc. have been defined in this paper. However, Identified parameters are used in hardware prototype in order to validate and verify system performance. Generator measured speed, d-q axis currents are control by Field Oriented Control (FOC) in sensor-based system, and estimated parameters are used in sensorless control scheme. Hardware prototype is used for parameters identification and experiments, which comprises of, individual gear-less PMSG, ETH position sensor, LEM voltage and current sensors, and dSP ACE microlab box.
