Abstract

A system for feeding the distributed windings of an electromagnet used in the first starting stage of the 30-MeV radial-sector annular phasotron of FIAN (Physical Institute of the Academy of Sciences of the USSR) is described. The electromagnet is supplied from dc generators of the P101 type rated at 65 kW, 230 V, and 282 A. In order to stabilize the direct component of current and suppress voltage pulsations at the generator outputs to a level of 0.03%, control units of 6S18S tubes are included; some of these are connected in parallel with the excitation winding of the generator and others in parallel with the load. A voltage for suppressing pulsations and stabilizing the steady component reaches the control grids of these tubes from the output of a dc amplifier. The latter is based on the principle of the parallel operation of a narrow-band dc amplifier with regeneration, taken from a BT-4 system and having a low zero drift, and a wideband ac amplifier. A feature of the amplifier is the use of intensive negative feedback for stabilizing the operating conditions of the tubes and uniformly matching the narrow- and wide-band frequency characteristics. The stabilizing system described makes it possible to use dc generators as sources of high-stability current or high-stability voltage.
