Abstract

A system composed of a soil washing apparatus and differential flotation methods for extracting 2nd-, and 3rd-instar corn rootworms, Diabrotica spp., from soil samples is described. Tests demonstrated that this system had a 93.4% overall retrieval efficiency and that 2 persons could process ca. 100, 1.4-liter soil samples/day.
