Abstract
Recently, with emerging technologies, product lifecycle management (PLM) has been in the spotlight. Now the whole product lifecycle can be visible and controllable thanks to product embedded information device (PEID). This results in closed-loop information flows during the whole product lifecycle. Closed-loop PLM focuses on tracking and managing the information of the whole product lifecycle, with possible feedback of information to product lifecycle phases. However, implementing the PLM system requires a high level of coordination and integration. To address this need, in this study, we focus on the system architecture of closed-loop PLM with respect to business model, hardware, and software.
