Abstract

Eccrine carcinoma has been rarely reported in the Head & Neck region and even more infrequently diagnosed on the external nose due to the limited number of sweat glands in this region. Of the three types of sweat glands (eccrine, apocrine, and apoeccrine), the human body contains approximately 3 million eccrine glands. They are distributed in varying concentrations throughout the body,1 with the highest concentration of glands found on the soles of feet. The classification of eccrine carcinoma is complex and indistinct which is related to the paucity of reported cases as these tumors show little histologic resemblance to eccrine glands.
