Abstract

Eleven localities of Synurella ambulans, a new native amphipod species, were found in the eastern and southern parts of Lithuania during the period 2005–2007. This amphipod often inhabits temporary water bodies, which suggests that S. ambulans may be capable of some type of diapause that allows to survive habitat desiccation.
