Abstract

High pressure and high temperature experiments performed in the laboratory are used to understand how diamonds are formed in the deep Earth. To achieve this purpose, we grow diamonds similar to natural diamonds, having trapped the same kind of impurities than observed in natural ones. We show that natural diamonds of different morphologies: monocrystalline, fibrous, coated, polycrystalline, all grow in the same kind of fluids in the Earth’s lithosphere.
