Abstract

New oxygenated complexes of nickel( II) with the composition Ni 2O 4(Imid) x A y · zNH 3 or Ni 2N 4(Imid) x' A y' · z'NH 3, where Imid represents the imidazole molecule and A the anion of succinic acid, maleic acid or glutaric acid, have been synthesized. The behavior of these salts when heated in air has been studied by thermogravimetric methods and it has been established that in all cases the product of the decomposition is the oxide or the carbonate. Diffuse reflectance spectra are presented. Calculated electronic transitions are in good agreement with those observed. It seems that the nickel ions are in an octahedral environment.
