Abstract
Abstract The occurrence times and quantities of precipitation are relevant factors in determining reservoir capacity and periodic water balance for hydrologic systems. In many instances, historical precipitation data for a location are available only for a small number of years. Using the computer, information contained in the recorded data can be used to generate synthetic precipitation magnitudes and sequences that provide greater possible extreme events and are more adaptable for frequency analysis.
