Abstract

In order to: (1) improve the urban road network planning perspective and robustness; (2) broaden the operation scope of urban bus lines; and, (3) facilitate urban resident travel, it is necessary to study the method of existing network optimization and new network planning. This paper firstly analyzes the characteristics of urban road networks. Combined with complex network theory, complex networks statistical properties of urban road network are analyzed qualitatively and quantitatively. Then, referring to the resident trip origin and destination (OD) matrix representation, the synthetic matrix model is constructed with indicators like road impedance, road network capacity, and functional level. Then, the urban road network can be expressed in a synthetic matrix. The layout of the urban roads, the optimal path, and site attributes are described by the synthetic matrix in multidimensional matrix quantized form, which will lay a foundation for the research of an urban road network and urban transit planning scope.
