Abstract
From December, 1960, to the present, 126 Richardson-type buoy stations have been set. The recoveries and losses are recorded here, and the causes of failure and life expectancy are discussed in some detail. It is believed that most of the failures have been due to biological attack; evidence in support of this theory is presented.
