Abstract

A hindgut-stimulating neurohormone synthesized in vitro by the neurosecretory cells of cultured brains of Leucophaea maderae passes through the nervi corporis cardiaci I into the corpora cardiaca and is released into the culture medium. As much as 90 per cent of the hormone breaks down in the medium during a 3-day incubation period, and the amount recovered represents only a small fraction of the amount actually released.
