Synthesis, structure, thermal, and photoluminescent properties of europium(III) and terbium(III) dipivaloylmethanates with N-heterocyclic compounds

Abstract

Mixed-ligand complexes of Eu(III) and Tb(III) dipivaloylmethanates with N-heterocyclic ligands (3,5-dimethylpyrazole, imidazole, 4-aminopyridine, 2,2′-bipyridine, and 1,10-phenanthroline) were synthesized. X-ray diffraction analysis was used to determine the structure of the dimer Eu2(dpm)6 and mononuclear complexes Ln(dmpz)(dpm)3 (Ln = Eu, Tb) and Tb(apy)(dpm)3. Photoluminescence of the complexes and their films obtained by chemical vapor deposition was studied.
