Abstract

A new organic cocrystal 2-amino-5-nitropyridine:2-naphthoxy acetic acid (2ANPNAA) has been synthesized. Single crystals of 2ANPNAA were grown by slow solvent evaporation method. 2ANPNAA crystals were examined by elemental analysis, spectral analyses such as mass, UV–visible and fluorescence. The crystal structure of 2ANPNAA has been determined by single crystal XRD analysis and it belongs to monoclinic crystal system with space group P2(1)/c. Fourier transform infrared (FT-IR) spectral study has been carried out to identify the various functional groups present. The UV–vis–NIR transmittance spectrum was recorded in the range 200–2500nm, to find the suitability of the single crystal for various optical applications. The thermal stability and melting point of the material of 2ANPNAA crystal have been investigated by means of thermogravimetric analysis and differential thermal analysis.
