Abstract

Two coordination polymers, [M(cbdc)(bipy)0.5(H2O)]n [M = Zn (1), Cd (2)]. (H2cbdc = 1,1-cyclobutane dicarboxylic acid, bipy = 4,4′-bipyridine), have been synthesized by using Zn(II)/Cd(II) acetate with cbdc and bipy ligands under hydrothermal conditions. Their structures have been characterized by elemental analysis, IR spectroscopy, single-crystal X-ray crystallography and powder X-ray diffraction analysis. Complexes 1 and 2 are isostructural and show a 3D pillared-layer network with (3,4)-connected InS topology. The luminescent properties of the complexes and the free ligand have been investigated. Two novel coordination polymers based on the flexible alicyclic dicarboxylic acid ligand 1,1-cyclobutane dicarboxylic acid (H2cbdc) ligand have been synthesized under hydrothermal conditions. Complexes 1 and 2 are isostructural and show a 3D pillared-layer network with (3,4)-connected InS topology. The luminescent properties of the complexes and the free ligand have been investigated.
