Abstract

A zinc-diphosphonate [Zn2(HEDP)(L)]·2H2O (1) was solvothermally prepared with L as a coligand (HEDP = 1-hydroxyethylidenediphosphonate, L = melamine). In 1, the {CPO3} tetrahedral units in HEDP ligand bridge the Zn2+ ions through corner sharing to form [-Zn2(HEDP)-]n neutral chains as subunits, which are further cross-linked by neutral L moieties into a novel three dimensional (3D) hybrid framework. The compound was characterized by infrared (IR) spectroscopy, elemental analyses (EA), powder X-ray diffraction (PXRD), thermogravimetric analysis (TGA) and fluorescence spectroscopy. Notably, compound 1 displays blue photoluminescence with an emission maximum at about 354 nm.
