Abstract

The Ba1-xBixTiO3 doped with various concentrations of Sm3+ is prepared by a high temperature solid state method followed by a subsequent calcination route. X-ray diffraction (XRD), photoluminescence (PL) spectra and SEM with EDX have analysed the samples stuff and assessed the effect of various doping concentrations. The XRD results imply that the Ba1-xBixTiO3doped Sm3+ (x=0, 0.01, 0.03, 0.05 and0.07) phosphors can be well indexed to the cubic BaTiO3 phase. The arrived at phosphors yield strong orange light emission corresponding to the energy states of Sm3+ ions under visible light excitation influenced by the altered concentrations and fine-tuning of the excitation wavelengths. The evaluated Chromaticity Colour Coordinates and Correlated Colour Temperature (CCT) values are obtained around the region of warm light with modified concentrations of Sm3+ions. The chromaticity coordinates show Ba1-xBixTiO3:Sm3+phosphor is very close to orange light-emitting diodes (LEDs) and the CCT has investigated colour coordinates due to optimising concentration of Sm3+ ions.
