Abstract

O, O′-Dialkyl and alkylene dithiophosphoric acids react with bis(cyclopentadienyl)zirconium(IV) chloride hydride in a 1:1 molar ratio in refluxing benzene to yield Cp2HZrS2P(OR)2 and Cp2HZS2 (where R=Et, Pr-n, Pr-i, Bu- and Ph; G=‒CH2CMe2CH2‒, ‒CH2CEt2CH2‒ and ‒CMe2CMe2‒). The complexes are pale yellow solids, soluble in common organic solvents and monomeric in nature. These compounds have been characterized by elemental analyses as well as spectroscopic methods (IR, 1H, 13C and 31P NMR). Anti-bacterial action of these complexes has been evaluated against Staphylococcus aureus and Escherichia coli. The activity has been detected by the disc diffusion method.
