Abstract
Single crystal of 2-amino-2-ethylpyridinium picrate (AEPP) was synthesized by employing slow evaporation technique. FT-IR spectroscopic results showed the formation of N+H group at 3163 cm−1 which confirms the proton transfer in AEPP crystal. Transparency of the crystal was studied using UV–Vis-NIR spectral data and revealed AEPP has no absorption in the entire visible region. The blue light emission capacity of the crystal was confirmed using photoluminescence studies. The TG/DTA analysis shows that the crystal is withstanding up to 180 °C. The molecular structure of the AEPP crystal ascertained through single crystal XRD. The crystal belongs to triclinic system with space group P-1. The inhibition activity against microbes was evaluated using disc diffusion method and showed better antimicrobial activity with increase in concentration.
