Abstract

A mononuclear macrocyclic ligand and its Co(II), Ni(II), Cu(II) and Zn(II) complexes were made from3,4- Diaminobenzophenone with Diketones such as Dibenzoylmetthane, 5-Chloroisatin and Metal Chloride salts. They were analyzed by Infrared Spectroscopy, Electronic Spectroscopy, NMR Spectroscopy (1H&13CNMR), CHN analysis, magnetic moment conductivity, Mass spectral studies and SEM analysis. An octahedral and distorted octahedral structure is suggested for the complexes, where two coordination sites are occupied by chloride ions and the other four by tertiary amines. The complexes show higher antimicrobial activity in comparison with the ligand.
