Abstract

Abstract Complexes of 1-(OC-naphthylacetyl)-4-phenyl-3-thiosemicarbazide (NTSC) with some transition metal ions have been synthesized and characterized on the basis of elemental analyses, molar conductance, magnetic moment and spectral (visible, i.r., n.m.r.) studies. I.r spectra show that NTSC behaves in a bidentate and/or bridging tetradentate manner. A tetrahedral structure is proposed for Co(II) complex, square-planar for Ni(II), Pd(II) and Cu(II) complexes, and octahedral for Cr(III) complex according to the data of magnetic and electronic spectral measurements.
