Abstract

An organic crystal L-Arginium 5-Sulfosalicylate (A5SA) was created by a slow evaporation method. The X-ray diffraction (XRD) analysis confirmed the novel cell parameters, a = 12.60 Å, b = 7.18 Å, c = 15.12 Å. The UV absorbance spectrum has a low cut-off wavelength at 243 nm. Optical bandgap of the crystal is 5.10 eV which matches with the Tauc’s Plot. The fluorescence emission peak at 609 nm shows that the crystal emits orange luminescence. Fourier Transform Infrared (FTIR) and Raman (FT-Raman) analyses were used to analyse the spectrum investigations. The microhardness test confirmed that the grown crystal belongs to soft material category.
